Success of foreign crews at the WinteRace 8th edition in Cortina d’ Ampezzo March 5th-7th 2020

The WinteRace "Super classic ACISPORT" is becoming more international every year.
In fact, foreign crews coming from all over Europe to take part in one of the most anticipated classic regularity races of the winter calendar are increasing.
The main attractions offered are certainly the beautiful setting of the Dolomites, a UNESCO heritage site, the "five-star" services, the glamor of Cortina and a race which not only enhances the skills of the competitors, but which also gives them emotions.
"This edition will take place entirely in Italian territory" says Rossella Labate, the organizer of the event, "the crews will compete along a 400 km route divided into two legs of 200 km each.

Drivers will cross 8 Dolomite passes above 2000 meters and will also enjoy crossing historic locations such as Arabba, Corvara and Dobbiaco and visiting villages, first of all the one in Siror where the oldest Christmas market in Trentino was born."
In this 8th edition there will be fifty cars built within the year 1976.
Among the many foreign crews, there will be some from Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Two Israeli crews will participate in the 5th Porsche WinteRace, the race dedicated to a maximum of thirty Porsche cars selected by the organization and built from 1977 to the present day. They will start, as always, in line with the historic cars and will have their own ranking and dedicated prizes.

Among the most "historic" cars there are three Lancia Aprilia, including the one from 1937 of the Sisti-Gualandi crew (winners of the WinteRace twice), two Fiat 508, one C and the other S respectively of the Gaggioli-Pierini and Piona- crews. The most historic car was produced in the UK, the 1932 Wolseley Hornet Special cc1300 of the Gennaro-Giacomello crew.

A car which will most likely cause a lot of interest is The Urbanina Type E of the 60s, the first electric car produced in Italy, as well as the Jaguar D-Type Replica cc3800 of 1973 belonging to Simone Bertolero, organizer of the "Poltu Quatu Classic" Elegance Contest in Costa Smeralda, Sardinia.

Among the prestigious prizes awarded by the sponsors there will be a precious "Graduate Cronograph" watch from GIRARD-PERREGAUX, the Swiss watchmaking brand, which will go to the First classified crew.
On Thursday March 5th the technical checks will take place.
The fifty historic cars will start in front of twenty modern Porsches who will compete for the victory of the 5th Porsche WinteRace.
The crews will face 66 timed tests and 6 average tests with 6 secret detections for a total of 78 detections.
Among the Top Drivers there will be Giovanni Moceri, a young Sicilian pediatrician, winner of the 2019 Mille Miglia and Italian 2019 Grand Events Champion. He will participate with his wife Valeria Dicembre.

The 400 km route is divided into two stages.

On Friday March 6th the cars will leave at 9.00 am from Corso Italia in Cortina d'Ampezzo to head towards the challenging Giau Pass after having carried out the first tests near Cortina; the cars will then continue towards Arabba, after the tests in Pian di Salesei. The second pass to cross will be the Sella Pass, followed by a lunch break in Colfosco at the hotel "Kolfuschgerhof ****". The race will continue in the afternoon towards wonderful Corvara and San Vigilio di Marebbe. After crossing the Furcia Pass, cars will arrive in Dobbiaco where there will be a coffee break, and then they will reach the Cimabanche Pass.
At around 4.15 pm the first car will arrive in Corso Italia in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Cars will be presented to the public by Savina Confaloni, journalist of the newspaper Corriere della Sera. The arrival of the modern cars of the 5th Porsche WinteRace is scheduled in front of the Grand Hotel Savoia *****.

On Saturday March 7th the crews will leave at 9.00 am from Corso Italia to head towards the Falzarego Pass. After the tests in Rucavà and the passage through Falcade, the cars will cross the second pass of the morning, the Rolle Pass, and will then arrive in San Martino di Castrozza and in the wonderful village of Siror. In downtown Fiera di Primiero there will be a stop in the city center and a warm welcome by locals dressed in typical local costumes. In the afternoon the cars will have to cross the Cereda Pass and then head towards Gosaldo and Agordo. At the end of the tests on the Alleghe lake, they will go back to Giau Pass and then arrive in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The arrival is scheduled in Corso Italia at 5.00 pm.

Once again, the WinteRace is supported by prestigious sponsors: among the "Platinum" ones, the already mentioned GIRARD-PERREGAUX, Swiss watchmaking brand, Porsche Classic Milano Est, direct branch of Porsche Italy, MA-FRA, a leading company in car cosmetics, Cotton Sound, specialized in hypoallergenic absorbent cotton products, Hand Picked, luxury denim brand Made in Italy and Vilebrequin, leading brand in prestigious beachwear and now also in denim.

Among the "Gold" sponsors: Porsche Center Padova, direct branch of Porsche Italy, HDI assicurazioni, Hashtag, leading company in the production of suede leathers and Campomarzio 70, high quality fragrances.
Among the partners we would like to mention: FICR (Italian Timekeepers Federation), Grand Hotel Savoia *****, the garedepoca.com website, Gianni Chiarini Firenze, famous Made in Italy brand for bags and accessories, and Col Vetoraz, DOCG sparkling wines from Valdobbiadene.

The WinteRace 8th edition, organized by WinteRace Srl, benefits from the support of the Primiero Municipality (San Martino di Castrozza) and ACI Treviso.
